There are lots of opportunities at our academies and in the community for children to get involved in extra activities. However, we also know how difficult it is to make ends meet and that sometimes it’s hard to find the money for those extra things which make life richer for our children.
The government makes additional payments to schools for those children who are disadvantaged because their parents have to manage on very low incomes, and the Trust is committed to using this money in the right way. For example, we will pay for the cost of all non-residential trips for this group of children. See our Pupil Premium page for more information.
In addition, and in order to make it possible for all children to experience the rich opportunities in the community, we operate an Opportunities Fund which can be accessed by the respective parent or carer for in- or out-of-school activities. Examples are: after-school drama or gymnastics clubs, music or martial arts lessons, and uniforms for sea cadets, brownies or drama groups. Please note we do not intend to use this fund in the future to pay for school uniforms or shoes.
You will appreciate the fund is limited, so each application will be considered on its own merit to ensure we distribute the money properly. The process is completely confidential.
