Attendance & Emergency closures

Regular attendance at school is vital to promote good learning, positive attitudes and strong friendships.

We want to do our best for all children in our community, and at Ormiston Cliff Park Infant Academy we firmly believe that regular attendance at school is vital for children as it promotes good learning, positive attitudes and maintains continuity in their education and friendships.

Home and school must work together to ensure that children feel safe and secure, and know the routines clearly.

Parents do not legally have the right to take children out of school, and in fact have the responsibility for their child to attend school regularly and punctually. Holidays during term time will not be authorised. Requests for absence will only be granted in the most exceptional of circumstances, and ‘Leave of Absence’ forms (available in the ‘Related documents’ section) are required to be filled in and given to the school at least a month before the first day of the requested absence period.

Please note that it is the policy of Ormiston Academies Trust to discourage leave of absence during term time and holiday requests are not normally authorised.

Attendance and punctuality

We are committed to giving your child the best opportunities that we can. We do this most effectively when working with you.

Please see the ‘Attendance and Punctuality leaflet’ in the ‘Related documents’ section for more information.
